An explanatory note or an instruction manual is always attached to any purchased product. Following the directions in them, things are stored and last longer. Such instructions are labels attached to clothing. Instead of words, icons are depicted on them, each of which has its own decoding.

Various firms may use their own marking to indicate an action. However, having understood the basic notation, you can easily decipher similar icons.

Icon Types

In total 3 types of badges are accepted: badges for washing, drying, ironing. The symbols of each group are similar to each other and differ only in a couple of details.

Laundry Icons

To indicate washing, it is customary to use an inverted trapezoid with a wavy line at the top. It also looks like a bowl filled with water. This image is the basis of each sign, and additional elements indicate a ban or permission during washing.

If a symbol is depicted without any lines, the thing can be washed both in the typewriter and manually.

The same trapezoid, but with a strip below, means that you need to use gentle washing or low spin. There is also an icon with two lines. If it is present on the label, then the thing should be washed only in delicate mode.

A trapezoid crossed out by a cross serves as an indication that it is forbidden to wash a thing.

Also, in addition to the symbol itself, the numbers 30, 40, 50, 60, 95 can be present. All of them indicate the temperature of the water in which clothes should be washed.

In addition to trapezoids, you can meet an empty or crossed triangle. It indicates permission or prohibition to whiten things accordingly.

Drying Icons

It is customary to use a square to indicate drying. As in the previous group, it also serves only as a basis.

An empty or crossed out square allows or prohibits drying in the washing machine.

If there is an empty circle inside the square, then the thing can be dried in a washing machine or electric dryer. As in the previous case, the crossed out icon prohibits this action. When inside the circle there is one or two points, then it is necessary to dry with minimal or hot drying, respectively. In addition, spinning things is prohibited if a horizontal figure eight appears inside the circle. And three vertical lines mean that drying is necessary without spinning.

The icon, underlined by one line from the bottom, says that you should select the gentle mode, and two lines - delicate.
