If the door stops closing the refrigerator tightly, this malfunction should be fixed as soon as possible. Proper operation of the refrigerator in this case is almost impossible.

During operation, fully functioning refrigerators may have a problem with closing the door. The most common causes of this trouble are:

- damaged door seal;

- the door sagged under its own weight;

- for modern models - the open door alarm may not work or work without reason - this indicates a malfunction of the door open sensor.

Each of these malfunctions requires certain measures. Damage to the door can be caused by various reasons, but the solutions are approximately the same. It may be necessary to remove the door, rearrange, adjust or completely replace it; replacement of a magnetic lock or door opener; replacing rubber or other parts of the refrigerator door; elimination of condensation on the door - due to the fact that it cannot close tightly.

Door warping

Deformation or violation of the integrity of the door is the most common reason for its leaking closure. At the same time, in different areas, the door may fit slightly differently. For example, in the upper part the position of the door has not changed, but there are gaps below. This situation can be affected by both a careless attitude to opening the refrigerator and the frequency with which the door opens. To eliminate the malfunction, in this case, the adjustment or rearrangement of the doors will be required. In the most severe cases, the door will need to be changed.

Seal wear

Over time, the rubber seal may wear out or deform, which will prevent the door from closing tightly. You can check for leaks with a simple paper strip. To do this, the strip must be placed between the refrigerator door and the seal. If the sheet is tightly clamped, the tightness at the junction is normal. Such a check must be carried out along the entire perimeter of the door. If the integrity is compromised, the seal must be replaced. You can do it yourself or order work for specialists. It should be borne in mind that independent replacement of the seal does not always guarantee the future good operation of the refrigerator.
